ROLES
Mountain: (Male, age range 25-40, Lead) has led a very dull life. This fact has always bothered him. However, he has never been bothered enough to do anything about it. He now finds himself thrust into a pre-mid life crisis where he is forced to confront such issues as self hatred, world hatred, and hatred towards a pair of boxer briefs. He also suffers from having a Narrator; a Narrator who has become bored of narrating Mountain's life.
Narrator: (Male, age range 25-40, Lead) is fed up with narrating Mountain's dull existence. Thus, when an opportunity to make Mountain's life more interesting arises, Narrator leaps for its jugular with arms out stretched.
Harvey: (Supporting) is the type of man who makes sexist comments claiming they're jokes; the type of man who makes fun of his wife in front of guests. Simply put, he's the type of man who adjusts his genitals while sitting at the dinner table. He is also under the illusion that Mountain is one of his best friends.
Erin: (Supporting) is married to Harvey and now faces the repercussions of being stuck with someone whose company she detests.
Chelsea/Poppy/Samantha's Mom/Gretchen: (Supporting)
Chelsea is married to Mountain and now has pleasure of being in a relationship filled with loving silence. / Poppy is presumed to be the perfect child until her foul mouth proves otherwise. / Samantha's Mom is just trying to hold everything together and not disown her child. / Gretchen is rapidly finding that no matter how many 20 year olds she surrounds herself with, time and wrinkles stop for no one.
Anna/Samantha/Connie/Bartender/Sydney: (Supporting) Samantha is the child that no one really wants to raise but keep anyway. She is turning 9. Lizzy is Gretchen's co-worker as well as Brandon's girlfriend. She embodies young and blind puppy love.
Jacob/Brandon: (Supporting) Jacob is one of the few men in Mountain's life that is actually happy with life. He even likes his child. / Brandon is dating Lizzy and adores all things related to hiking and kombucha. Like Lizzy, he is also in puppy love.
Supported, in part, by public funds from the NYC Dept of Cultural Affairs and by the NY State Council on the Arts.
