Audition Information for Teens: September 2009
- You must be 12 to audition, that is the youngest age which we will consider casting. In general, more than half of company members are high school age.
- You do not need to have any theater experience, but you should have a real interest in performing and being part of a company.
- Parents and friends who are not auditioning are not allowed in the auditions; however, they are welcome to drop you off and meet you afterwards.
- Please review the rehearsal and performance calendars (under 'calendar' on this website) to make sure you would be available to participate; company members are required to attend all rehearsals and performances of the project they are cast in as well as volunteer some time to help out with a production in which they are not an actor, either at the box office or backstage, with very few exceptions.
- The audition is a group audition and lasts one and a half hours. You do not need to prepare anything in advance. You will spend the majority of your time working with others on a brief scene.
- Please arrive to audition on time!
- Downtown Art will hold auditions at WOW Cafe Theatre, 59-61 E. 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery on the 4th Floor. The closest subway stops are the F (Second Avenue/Houston), 6 (Astor Place/8th St), and R (8th St/Broadway.)
